Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use LucentPay™?

Any UK-based business, including sole traders, limited companies, partnerships, LLPs, and non-profits. You simply need a legitimate business invoice and a UK bank account to receive or send payments.

Can I use a personal card to make payments?

Yes. LucentPay™ accepts both personal and business cards (including Amex®, Mastercard®, and Visa®), provided the payment is for a legitimate business expense such as a supplier invoice or HMRC liability.

Can I use LucentPay™ to pay HMRC?

Yes. LucentPay™ enables card payments to HMRC, even though HMRC doesn’t accept credit cards directly. We verify the tax reference and remit payment from our business account with your reference applied.

Is LucentPay™ a wallet or account provider?

No. LucentPay™ is not a wallet or e-money platform. Each transaction is processed through Stripe and remitted directly to your recipient. We do not hold or store client funds.

Is LucentPay™ secure?

Yes. All payments are processed using Stripe — PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. Your payment data is never stored by LucentPay™. KYC is required to prevent fraud and comply with UK law.

Is this a credit or lending product?

No. LucentPay™ is a pay-as-you-go business tool. We do not offer loans or credit. All payments must be funded by a valid card at time of checkout.

What happens after I submit KYC?

We typically verify Standard accounts within 2–4 working hours during the business day. Pro users are prioritised and verified within 1 hour — including outside business hours.

How do I know if my invoice has been paid?

After your card payment is received, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Once payout to your supplier or HMRC is complete, we’ll send another confirmation. Pro users receive priority tracking and audit trail support.

Can I cancel or request a refund?

Refunds can only be issued if your transaction has not yet been paid out. Once remitted to your supplier or HMRC, the payment is final. Chargebacks made without cause may lead to suspension of service.

How does LucentPay™ make money?

We charge a transparent annual Pro fee (£95/year) and a transaction fee on each payment (5% for Pro, 6% for Standard). There are no hidden fees or recurring card charges.

How long do payouts take?

Stripe processes your card payment instantly. LucentPay™ typically remits funds within 1–3 working days. You’ll be notified once the payment is complete. Pro users are prioritised.
